Can We Frame a 44-Foot Wall with ONE Piece of Wood?
We are back on the job site for a brand-new residential framing build, and today we are racing a massive rainstorm to get our foundation layout snapped and our engineered mudsills installed. With the dirt guys just wrapping up the backfill, Kyle and I have exactly 24 hours to transition this concrete foundation into a perfectly square layout before the weather turns.
In this video, we break down our exact process for establishing control points and snapping dead-accurate lines across multiple concrete step-downs using our laser level. You’ll see a masterclass in materials handling as we put our Cornerstone Industries Sidewinder swing carriage carriage to the test—juggling a massive pile of long PWT treated LVL mudsills, including an absolute monster 44-foot single-piece stick!
We also dive deep into advanced jobsite moisture management and foundation sealing, showing you how we roll out TAC tape and high-performance soil gas vapor retarders for a fully sealed crawl space. Plus, we share the structural reasoning behind why we invest in ultra-premium PWT treated LVL mudsills over standard green-treated hemlock or Doug fur, ensuring maximum longevity where the house meets the concrete.
