In the third and final part of the G-Pod series, Steve Baczek explores the design details and building systems behind this high-performance, off-grid home. A series of special guests join Steve throughout the tour, discussing outdoor living, durable materials, triple-pane windows, low-voltage lighting, architectural detailing, solar power, and the home’s energy-storage system. The tour also covers rainwater harvesting and filtration, efficient plumbing, and a split-system heat-pump water heater designed for the G-Pod’s compact mechanical space. The conversations offer different perspectives on how architecture, building science, energy efficiency, water management, and technology are integrated throughout the project, from the outdoor spaces and interior details to the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and renewable-energy systems.
