Setting an 800-Pound Window in a Lakeside Spa

Architect Steve Baczek of The Build Show and Cody Pelletier of Laurel Windows walk through installing a very large triple-glazed window in a lakeside spa room, in climate zone six. They explain why a water-managed opening, with a sloped sill, back dam, and a liquid-applied sealant, makes more sense than face sealing in a harsh, wet climate. Pelletier covers shimming, laser leveling, metal clips, and the specialized lifting tools heavy glass requires. They also look at tilt-turn windows, triple gaskets, perimeter locking hardware, and installer training for European window packages.
