Aubrey Texas Barndominium Progress Tour | Monitor-Style Steel Frame Home Build
In today’s video, we’re out here in Aubrey, Texas taking a look at the progress on one of our latest barndominium builds.
This is a monitor-style barndominium featuring:
- 1,500 sq ft of living space
- ~300 sq ft of porch area
- ~600 sq ft of covered parking
The layout is clean and efficient, yet feels spacious, with:
- Three bedrooms and two baths
- Generous master suite
- Vaulted living area
- Breezeway connecting to the detached shop and parking space
On this project, we’re demonstrating how strategic steel framing can be used even for smaller spans, giving:
- Strong structure with minimal bracing
- More room for mechanicals and insulation
- Open-ceiling design
Key construction details include:
- Boxing out around water faucets
- Black Elevate windows with white interiors
- ZIP System sheathing and liquid flashing for long-term durability
Inside, the insulation system combines open-cell and closed-cell spray foam to create a well-insulated envelope. The ceiling structure maximizes usable space, while the large living-room windows bring in plenty of natural light.
We’re currently wrapping up rough-ins and preparing for drywall, cabinetry approvals, and finishing stages.
