Episode 7: Supply Chain and Building Supplies

On today’s podcast I’m joined by special guest Jeff Rettig, VP of Supply Chain at Builders First Source to talk about the crazy spike in the commodities market especially surrounding lumber products.

Lumber prices have sky rocketed recently by almost 4 times compared to what they were this time last year and with demand increasing and supplies tightening due to varying factors, it’s having a huge impact across the industry.

For the average sized house build, the lumber alone is costing around $26,000 to $30,000 more than normal and lead times have been gradually increasing with many having to wait as long as 6 months.
