Why We NEVER Trench Our Footings
Build Show Live 2026 Registration
A lot of people ask us why we don’t just trench our residential footings. Honestly, we’ve always done it this way—blowing out the hole, forming the footings and stem walls, and backfilling later. In this video, we’re walking you through the entire crawl space setup, from our brand new 2x6 footing boards to some game-changing materials we're using on the jobsite.
We’re throwing down some ultra-light fiberglass rebar (3.5 lbs vs 13.5 lbs per stick is a no-brainer for the crew), dealing with a surprise line pump concrete mix delivery, and getting the whole family involved to help us trowel out and etch our layout lines before the mud hardens.
Our latest video details the crucial steps in establishing a solid house foundation. We walk you through the process, from initial excavation to the proper installation of rebar. Watch as we demonstrate how to pour concrete for a robust concrete footing, ensuring a strong start for any build. Got questions? 👇
