Before insulation goes in, the crew at Steven Dailey Construction brings drywall teams on site to do what they call the shim and shave process — running an eight-foot level across every stud, shimming low spots, and planing down anything sitting proud. The goal is a perfectly flat substrate for a level five smooth finish. Finish carpenters work alongside them, verifying door openings are square and that casing will land cleanly, especially around solid-core concealed-hinge doors. Metal corner bead goes up now where corners are vulnerable or framing is inconsistent. The entire house gets five-eighths drywall throughout, and the team is already planning transitions for arched ceilings and curved elements like the half-round elevator surround.
