West Texas Barndominium Build – Site Prep, Roadwork & Shooting Range Berm | Texas Best Construction

We’re out here in West, Texas—yes, the actual town of West—kicking off a brand new barndominium build on a beautiful piece of property.

This update gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the early stages of construction, including:

  • Site preparation
  • Road building
  • Water line challenges
  • Shaping a berm for a future shooting range

When we first walked the land with the clients, we considered multiple build locations, looking closely at elevation changes, potential water runoff, and tree coverage. After some discussion, we settled on a prime open space that offers privacy, great views, and minimal dirt work compared to other areas of the property.

From there, the real work began.

In this update, you’ll see:

  • Gravel being prepared and spread for the private road
  • A culvert installation to manage water runoff
  • An unexpected water line hit and how it was handled
  • Trenching for water and conduit lines
  • Preparation for future utilities
  • Construction of a nine-foot berm for a long-range shooting setup

This is just the beginning for our West Texas Barndominium project, and there’s plenty more to come as we move into framing, utilities, and finish work.
