West Texas Barndominium | 800-Ft Access Road & Forms Set | Texas Best Construction

We’re pushing the West Texas barndominium forward from dirt work to defined structure: batter boards and string lines are set, forms are squared, and the engineered foundation is staged for grade beams and plumbing rough-ins.

Accessibility came first with an 800-foot gravel access road, complete with a built-up culvert so pump trucks, concrete deliveries, and crews can reach the pad even during rainy conditions.

In this update, we walk through key steps in the process, including:

  • Why a form-board inspection is critical for elevation and floodplain clearance
  • How batter boards and string lines ensure precise layout
  • Squaring forms for an accurate foundation footprint
  • Planning the flow between living quarters and shop space

We also cover utility planning and setup:

  • Temporary power rack installation
  • 320-amp service for future barn/shop expansion
  • Placement of plumbing and utility connections

This is the unglamorous but essential phase of barndominium construction—focused on:

  • Precise layout
  • Reliable drainage
  • Durable site access

With these fundamentals in place, the project is ready for the next steps: slab prep, concrete pour, and steel construction.
