Weatherford Barndominium Update Safe Room, Steel Doors & Wall-Mounted Toilets

This is an in-depth progress update on the Weatherford turnkey build by Texas Best Construction, situated in a beautiful, rocky, hill-country setting in Weatherford, Texas.

In this walkthrough, we showcase the high-performance details that elevate this Barndominium to a luxury, energy-efficient home. You'll see our teams—the sheet metal installers, electricians running rough-in, and the stonemason working on a dedicated concrete Safe Room—all making headway.

We highlight several unique design choices, starting with the exterior's robust presence, featuring black-on-black trim and massive 8x8 steel posts on the front porch.

Moving inside, the living quarters boast an open concept with soaring 14-foot eaves and 12-foot ceilings maintained throughout all bedrooms and the hallway. The client's custom touches include an electric fireplace for an airtight build, and sophisticated plumbing with multiple wall-mounted toilets and urinals in the guest and Jack and Jill bathrooms.

The video takes you up into the crucial attic space, which has already been sealed with spray foam on the roofline. This area houses the sophisticated HVAC and air quality systems required for a high-performance envelope, featuring a Whole Home Dehumidifier (Santa Fe Ultra 98) and an ERV System (Energy Recovery Ventilator).

We detail how the ERV handles fresh air exchange and moisture control, routing exhaust from bathrooms via a green piping manifold—a critical element for healthy indoor air quality.

Back in the shop, we cover the setup for the client's solar power system and the installation of a smart electrical panel.

Finally, we address the extensive dirt work and foundation stabilization required for the challenging elevation and drainage on the back side of the property, proving that building better often means extra work from the ground up.

This project truly showcases the future of Hybrid Steel Frame construction.
