Water Main Leak Detection: Don't Forget This Electrical Detail

Build Show Live 2026 Registration
CJ Nielsen explains why providing power at the water main is becoming a standard part of his electrical rough-in process. He points out that water main leak detection systems need a nearby power source, yet this requirement is often missing from the original plans. After running into the issue on previous projects, his company adds power at the water main location to its rough-in checklist. CJ also discusses water leak detection technology that can monitor household water use and automatically shut off the water supply when unusual usage is detected, along with the coordination needed between electricians, plumbers, and builders.
