CJ walks through a mechanical room taking shape in a new build, making the case for claiming that space early on the plan set. Unused crawl space becomes usable square footage once it's dug out and slabbed, leaving room for electrical subpanels, AV gear, solar equipment, battery storage, a water heater and an air handler. He covers furred-out walls and dropped ceilings that create routes for wire and pipe, the value of grouping panels together for easier service, and keeping them near the meter main. Finishes range from open studs to drywall or plywood backing, with panels either flush or surface mounted and conduit run before the pour.
