This Natural Bark Siding Stopped Me Cold at IBS

At IBS 2026 in Orlando, Jordan Smith stops to highlight one of the more unusual products on the show floor: BarkClad, a natural bark siding made by a family-owned company. The material is harvested from living trees during a limited seasonal window, with the bark peeled in layers that cross-grain for structural stability — similar in concept to plywood. Installed on a rain screen, the company claims a 75-year lifespan. Some panels even retain live moss from the original tree. Available in exterior and interior versions, the product offers a textured, organic alternative to cedar shake siding.
