Welcome back to The Risinger Build! In today’s episode, we’re making major progress on the interior of our latest project, focusing on slab-top insulation and subfloor installation.

We begin by explaining why slab-top insulation is critical for improving energy efficiency and comfort, especially in extreme climates. The crew starts early, cleaning the slab and preparing it for installation.

We apply a bead of Lexel between the concrete and bottom plate to create an airtight seal that helps prevent air leakage and pest intrusion. Next, we install Atlas Energy Shield XR insulation, followed by Advantech subfloor, known for its strength and durability.

This two-layer system improves thermal performance while creating a solid foundation for the rest of the build. Throughout the episode, we share detailed techniques, including precise insulation cuts around penetrations and proper subfloor adhesive application.
