Door Installation Control Line Method + Flex Molding Details (Georgian House Build)

In this video, we’re on a traditional Georgian-style house showing how we set up a control line to install interior doors at consistent heights throughout the project.

Using a laser set off a known reference point (94" jamb height from finished exterior openings), we establish a single elevation line across multiple rooms. This allows us to account for floor variations while keeping all door heads aligned, ensuring consistent reveals and clean symmetry throughout the house.

We then use that control line to set, trim, and install door jambs quickly and accurately, checking each opening against the laser to determine exactly how much material needs to be removed for a perfect fit.

Later in the video, we also shift over to installing flexible rubber molding for ellipse windows, using adhesive and careful alignment to match profiles and maintain clean exterior transitions for upcoming brickwork.

What you’ll see in this video:

• Setting a laser control line for consistent door heights
• Using known reference points to handle uneven floors
• Fast, accurate door jamb trimming and installation
• Workflow tips for keeping doors plumb and aligned
• Installing flex molding for arched/ellipse windows

This method helps keep the entire house consistent, efficient, and visually clean while speeding up large-scale door installation work.
