This is the Forreston Barndominium, a large monitor-style design featuring a full hybrid steel and wood frame. The framing stage is well underway, and the layout is now fully visible.

The home includes a wide-open living area with tall volume ceilings, along with a spacious kitchen that overlooks the back porch and pool area. The layout is split to separate the kids’ wing from the owner’s suite.

On the kids’ side, there are four bedrooms with a shared bathroom setup and a central playroom or learning space. This design has become increasingly popular for families who want a connected area for schoolwork, hobbies, or everyday activities.

On the opposite side, the owner’s suite features direct porch access, a large bathroom with separate vanities, a walk-in shower, a soaking tub, and dual closets — one of which functions as a safe room.

The home also includes a dedicated grandparents suite with its own bathroom and closet space, making it ideal for multi-generational living or long-term guests.

This project utilizes a hybrid steel frame system. The steel structure carries the primary loads, while wood framing integrates with it to form interior walls and support insulation. This method provides strength, reduces thermal bridging, and allows flexibility in the floor plan.

Closed-cell spray foam will be applied anywhere steel is exposed to ensure proper thermal performance throughout the home.

Behind the main house, a detached shop with a single-slope roofline includes an integrated workout room, adding functional space without impacting the home’s footprint.
