Jake Bruton visits a custom home with special guest Colin Lindberg from Shelterwood Construction to explore how a high-performance wall assembly comes together in a cold-climate build. They discuss the role of an exterior water-resistive barrier (WRB), airtight construction, double-stud walls, and temporary window installations that help protect the structure while keeping the project moving. Jake and Colin also cover thoughtful detailing around overhangs, window installation, and moisture management, along with the importance of sequencing construction to maintain a durable, energy-efficient building envelope. The conversation highlights practical building science strategies that improve air sealing, weather resistance, and long-term performance in custom home construction.
