Is This the Best Way to Build a Barndominium?

Register for Build Show LIVE 2025 HERE

In this episode of the Build show Matt take us to see this cutting-edge 8,000 sq. ft. barndominium exemplifies sustainable, off-grid capable residential design. It integrates timber framing and a “monopoly” framing approach with exterior insulation using Delta Vent SA wrap and Rockwool for a high-performance envelope. The house boasts a 37kW solar array supported by Home Grid battery backup and a Kohler 26kW propane generator, ensuring energy resilience. Water needs are met via a 30,000-gallon rainwater catchment system by Innovative Water Solutions. VRF HVAC systems, a Mitsubishi heat pump for the pool, and dual Santa Fe dehumidifiers ensure efficient climate control. A custom-designed pool and expansive garage round out the home’s luxury and practicality. The attic, accessible via a Magic Stair system, is fully air-conditioned without interior insulation thanks to the continuous exterior envelope. Reisinger’s craftsmanship blends high-performance building science with personalized design.
