How My Geothermal Heat Pump Really Performed (2 Years)

I’ve had my geothermal heat pump for the past two years. It’s been helping me reach my net-zero energy goals in my new house. But getting it installed involved:

  • Drilling a 400-foot-deep well in my backyard
  • Running a cooling loop into the house through the foundation
  • Hooking up everything inside the house

It’s a little more complicated than a standard air-source heat pump setup, and a lot more expensive, too. But was it worth it? Over the past two years, I’ve collected a bunch of data and learned a lot.

Takeaways from my experience, plus what I might do differently if I had the chance, are explored in this video. Let’s dig in!
