Travis Brungardt walks through a finished high-performance home, breaking down what goes into a Catalyst build from the exterior in. He covers the building envelope—continuous exterior insulation, sealed sheathing, and ventilated over-roofs—before moving into mechanical rooms, closets, and bathrooms to point out dedicated dehumidifiers, ERVs, and low-profile air handlers tucked out of sight. Along the way, he touches on the modern and mid-century design details clients keep requesting, from matte countertops to oak slat walls, and explains how airtight construction, moisture management, and mechanical design work together in the basement and throughout the home to keep indoor air quality, comfort, and energy efficiency consistent room to room.
