Finding a Hidden Water Leak Without Tearing Open the Wall
Travis Brungardt uses a recent problem in his 1933 home to make the case for the borescope, a diagnostic tool he feels gets overlooked next to smoke machines and air pressure testers. A brown water stain on a wall first looks like condensation from a plumbing chase, but a bucket that keeps filling points to something else. Travis slides a borescope into a small opening and finds a tiny pinhole leak in a water pipe. He measures from a fixed reference point, cuts a precise access hole, and makes the repair without tearing into finished cabinetry. Brungardt also mentions the tool’s usefulness for HVAC and attic inspections.
