Bryan Uhler visits a historic masonry building in Chicago with special guest Bob Kelly, owner of Wet Building Solutions, to examine how moisture affects older roof and wall assemblies. The discussion focuses on building science principles, including vapor movement, drainage, ventilation, and the importance of using compatible materials when repairing historic structures. Bob explains how modern repairs, such as dense mortars and improper flashing details, can trap moisture and accelerate deterioration in brick masonry. Together they explore roof restoration strategies, passive ventilation systems, parapet wall drying, and long-term moisture management. The conversation highlights how understanding a building’s history, materials, and environmental conditions is essential when diagnosing roof leaks and preserving aging structures
