1,500 Sq Ft Barndominium in Venus, Texas | 3 Bed / 2 Bath Hybrid Steel Frame Home

We’re back out in Venus, Texas, checking in on this 1,500 sq ft barndominium build that’s getting close to the finish line!

You might remember this project from an earlier walkthrough when we had just wrapped up the wood framing—since then, things have really taken shape.

This home features:

  • Three bedrooms
  • Two bathrooms
  • A clean, efficient layout maximizing every square foot

From the outside, the details include:

  • White roof and R-panel siding
  • Brown trim accents for a crisp, timeless look
  • Wraparound overhangs
  • Room for future additions like covered parking or a side gable

Inside, the finishes are coming together beautifully:

  • Shaker-style cabinets with accent island color
  • Vaulted ceilings
  • Functional kitchen layout with corner pantry and space for a farm sink
  • Master suite with large shower, double vanity, and walk-in closet
  • Secondary bedrooms with walk-in closets to maximize space

Insulation and wall systems are key in this hybrid steel frame build:

  • Closed-cell foam on the roof for condensation control
  • Open-cell foam on walls achieving ~R-21 efficiency
  • ZIP System sheathing for airtight protection

These details ensure the steel structure and wood infill work together seamlessly, improving durability and comfort.

We’d love to hear your thoughts — what would you add to the front elevation to dress it up? Maybe shutters or stone accents? Drop your ideas in the comments below!
