Putting in SOLID White Oak Timber Ceiling

White Oak Beam Ceiling

White Oak Beam Ceiling Installation (Custom Method)

In this video, we’re finally installing the white oak beam ceiling in the dining room—one of the most anticipated features of this project. These are kiln-dried solid white oak beams, and instead of installing them as full solid timbers, we used a unique method to lighten them while keeping the look of a true beam.

By cutting L-shapes for perimeter beams and U-shapes for field beams, we were able to maintain continuous grain, reduce weight dramatically, and create a clean, high-end timber look without complicated glue-ups or miters.

In this video, we cover:

  • How we cut and shape the beams
  • Why this method works better than traditional box beams
  • Installing beams into walls for a tight, seamless fit
  • Mounting techniques that stay hidden in the final finish
  • Real-world tips for handling heavy material and layout

The result is a full beam ceiling that looks solid, installs easier, and delivers a clean, custom finish.

This is easily one of the standout features of the entire project—and we’re just getting started.
