Plaster Tips with New Age Artisans

In this episode of the Build Show, Lydia visits a project by Authentic Ink and Amber Interiors with Jeremy of New Age Artisans, a master plasterer. The home features a refined blend plaster—an ultra-smooth finish of fine sand and lime, custom-tinted to match the muted palette. Sealed and waxed, it creates a soft, elegant backdrop that enhances the interior design. Jeremy explains the importance of sequencing: drywall hung and taped, trim installed, then plaster applied directly to the trim for a seamless effect. His team also manages imperfections and prevents issues like ghosting, ensuring long-term quality. Lime plaster offers both durability and repairability, strengthening over time while allowing easy touch-ups since the color is integrated throughout. At roughly $1.50 per square foot in product cost, it eliminates the need for paint or extra finishing. Jeremy also shares resources and training through his Plaster Portal at newageartisans.com.
