Home Air Sealing a 100-Year-Old House (No Spray Foam)

Air Sealing a 100-Year-Old House (No Spray Foam)

Travis Brungardt demonstrates an alternative to spray foam for sealing rim joists in an early 1900s home. He uses Prosoco's Targeted Interior Air Seal product, which has a whipped topping consistency and doesn't require respirators or create harmful off-gassing—important considerations for the occupied home with young children and pets. The application method is straightforward: a tuck pointing tool fitted with a copper adapter allows installers to work efficiently from the ground. The product addresses massive air leaks at the foundation wall, sill plate, and rim joist connections in older homes. After air sealing, the team insulates with Rockwool batts.
