In this video, we build a set of fully operational exterior shutters using dense hardwood stock and traditional woodworking methods. Starting from rough lumber, we mill everything down to final dimension using a jointer, bandsaw, planer, and router table to achieve clean, accurate, and repeatable parts.

Once the components are milled, we create a full-size template, transfer the profile, and rough cut the shutter shape with a jigsaw before refining everything with a router and bearing bit. We also seal and prep all faces for exterior durability before final assembly.

After fabrication, we install the shutters using strap hinges and pintle-style hardware, allowing them to swing open while maintaining a classic fixed-open look. The result is a set of durable, functional shutters that add both charm and character to the home.
