Mike Conneely from Greenside Design Build explains how to properly size a gas meter for residential construction. He walks through the importance of calculating total BTU load by adding up all gas-powered appliances, including furnaces, water heaters, dryers, generators, radiant heating systems, and even future additions like driveway snow melt. Mike discusses how gas meters are measured in either water column or PSI, with high-pressure (2-pound) meters being required when the total BTU load exceeds 1 million. He also emphasizes the need for pressure regulators to protect appliances from excessive gas pressure. Plus, Mike takes us on a a tour of equipment that pushed the project into high-pressure territory.
