The Easiest Closet Lighting Upgrade (That Most Homes Miss)

CJ Nielsen walks through a straightforward approach to lighting small closets, pantries, and utility spaces using inexpensive LED wrap fixtures paired with a wall-mounted motion sensor. He explains that closet lighting is often overlooked on plans, even though it greatly improves usability in everyday spaces like coat closets or stacked laundry areas. CJ favors a utility-style LED fixture with a protruding lens that spreads light forward and sideways, delivering strong output across the entire closet. Instead of traditional door jamb switches, he recommends a motion sensor switch for easier installation, manual override, and fewer issues when doors are left open. The setup uses a simple wiring run to the door header and mounts the fixture directly for a fast, practical installation.
