Cutting into Festools with Milwaukee... I didn't want to do it.
Another productive day on site! We’re finishing up the tongue-and-groove ceiling in the dining room while working through material challenges and layout adjustments. But that’s not all — I also have to step away to fix a rookie mistake in the bunk room that’s been bothering me since install.
In this video:- Finishing the tongue-and-groove (T&G) ceiling and working around beam layouts
- Adapting to material shortages and adjusting the coffered ceiling design
- Drilling and routing precise holes for lighting in dense white oak
- Fixing a major detail mistake on custom bunk bed coves
- How a flawed template caused inconsistent cuts — and how to correct it
In the bunk room, I break down exactly what went wrong with my template and show how I fix all 32 pieces using a new routing method. It’s one of those moments where rushing a step costs more time later — but we get it cleaned up and looking right.
I also ran into an issue with my router — a design flaw that forced me to modify the tool just to keep working. Not ideal, but it’s all part of real jobsite problem-solving.
Back in the dining room, we wrap things up by routing out lighting holes in white oak and pushing the ceiling closer to completion.
