Perrin Barndominium Progress Update | Texas Best Construction

Progress on the Perrin, Texas Barndominium project has advanced significantly, moving from wood framing to full HVAC rough-in and detailed exterior weatherproofing.

The main residence features a steep 8/12 pitch roof with decorative gables and is equipped with a high-efficiency American Standard two-stage HVAC system coupled with an AprilAire dehumidifier for optimal climate control.

Construction methodology focuses heavily on envelope integrity, utilizing the Zip System on exterior walls and wrapping interior window sills for superior moisture protection. The crew meticulously liquid flashes every joint and seals every nail head to ensure a completely airtight structure before installing the newly arrived black metal siding panels.

Inside, the home features 2x6 exterior walls and Elevate windows with striking black exteriors. The floor plan optimizes flow from the kitchen into a vaulted living space, effectively separating the guest quarters from the private master suite.

A heavy-duty Facro metal attic ladder replaces traditional wooden access points, offering better durability and ease of use.

Adjacent to the main home, the detached "Buckshot" shop plan demonstrates a strategic approach to property development. This 60x40 structure includes a massive workspace suitable for RV storage and an integrated efficiency apartment with a one-bedroom, one-bath layout.

This configuration allows for comfortable on-site living during construction of the primary residence or serves as a future in-law suite. The shop also features an upstairs storage loft, where the use of open web trusses is recommended to allow for easy conversion into finished flex space.

This dual-structure project highlights the versatility of modern Barndominium design, balancing high-end residential comfort with practical, industrial-grade utility.
